Cheese Taco Shells

Cheese lovers, skip the tortillas and swoon over this cheese taco shell, instead.

Supplies

  • 3 cups cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 1/2 pounds lean ground beef
  • 1 teaspoon taco seasoning
  • 1/4 cup onion, diced
  • 1/4 cup tomato, diced
  • 1 jalapeño, thinly sliced
  • 1/2 cup shredded lettuce
  • Sour cream for serving
  • Lime wedges for serving

Steps

  1. Place a wooden spoon over two glasses or bowls to create a bridge.
  2. Heat a non-stick skillet on medium heat.
  3. Place a small mound of shredded cheese in an even circular layer.
  4. Once the cheese begins to crisp up, flip over and cook for a few more seconds. Once it looks more firm, carefully lift it off with a spatula and place it over the horizontal spoon handle to form a taco shell.
  5. Once the cheese hardens, set aside and continue making cheese shells.
  6. In the same pan, cook the ground beef, onion, and taco seasoning until browned. Drain any excess fat.
  7. Place the beef in the cheese shells and top with lettuce, tomato, jalapeño, sour cream, and lime.
