Alouda

A cousin to Falooda, Alouda is inescapable as you walk down the streets of Port Louis. It's refreshing, delicious, and filling.

Supplies

  • 2 tablespoons basil seeds
  • 1 cup agar agar, chopped into 1/2 inch strips
  • 2.5 cups water, divided
  • 4 cups milk
  • 1/2 cup strawberry syrup
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon almond extract

Steps

  1. Clean your basil seeds, removing any stems.
  2. Soak your basil seeds for at least an hour.
  3. Boil 1 Cup of water, and add dried agar agar for 4-5 minutes or until dissolved.
  4. Remove from heat and let cool.
  5. Add all your ingredients into a pitcher.
  6. Pour into a glass full of ice.
  7. Enjoy!
