Peanuts, milk, sugar ... what's not to like? This refreshing drink from Trinidad (and all over the Caribbean) is easy to make, and tastes great. And yes, adding bitters is essential.

Peanut Punch

Peanuts, milk, sugar ... what's not to like? This refreshing drink from Trinidad (and all over the Caribbean) is easy to make, and tastes great. And yes, adding bitters is essential.

Supplies

  • 2 cups of shelled peanuts
  • 3 cups of water
  • 1 cup of whole milk
  • 6 ounces of sweetened condensed milk
  • Angostura bitters
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Steps

  1. Toast peanuts in the toaster oven for 5 min at 350 degrees or until you can smell them. Let them cool completely.
  2. Add toasted peanuts to a blender
  3. Add cold water
  4. Add cold milk
  5. Blend on high for about 60 seconds
  6. Strain (either with cheesecloth or a chinois) into a pitcher
  7. Add Condensed Milk, Vanilla, and angostura bitters
  8. Serve immediately in a cold glass
