Breakfast Cocktails

for when 12pm comes too late...

Supplies

  • Marmalade Madness:
  • 1 tsp Seville orange marmalade
  • 50ml gin
  • 5ml Campari
  • 15ml lemon juice
  • Dash of orange bitters
  • Twist of orange peel
  • Earl Grey & Gin Ice Tea:
  • 4 bags Earl Grey tea
  • 700ml water
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • Juice of 1 lemon
  • 175ml gin
  • 1/2 cucumber, peeled into ribbons
  • A few sprigs of mint
  • Cereal Milk Hardshake:
  • 100g cornflakes
  • 700ml cold milk
  • 50ml vodka
  • 150ml cereal milk
  • 2 scoops good quality
  • vanilla ice cream
  • 50g cornflakes, toasted
  • Whipped cream
  • 1 breakfast bar

Steps

  1. Marmalade Madness: place a heaped teaspoon of marmalade in a shaker. Add the gin and stir, pressing the marmalade against the side of the shaker to loosen. Add the other ingredients, fill up the shaker with ice cubes and shake hard to break down and dissolve the marmalade. Strain into a Martini glass and serve with a twist of orange.
  2. Cereal Milk Hardshake: to make the milk, preheat the oven to 150C. Spread the cornflakes on a baking-tray. Bake for 15 minutes, until lightly toasted. Cool completely, then transfer to a large jug. Pour the milk into the jug and stir. Allow to steep for 20 minutes at room temperature. Strain the mixture through a fine-mesh sieve into a medium bowl.
  3. Blend together the vodka, cereal milk & ice cream. Pour into a milkshake glass and top with whipped cream. Garnish with the toasted cornflakes and a breakfast bar.
  4. Earl Grey and Gin Ice Tea: pour the water over the tea bags and let it brew for 10 minutes. Strain it into a large jug. Add the honey and lemon juice then pour in the gin and stir. Add the cucumber, throw in some mint, and add lots of ice to your jug and serve.
