Supplies

  • For the cupcakes:
  • 300g softened butter

  • For the frosting:
  • 7 egg whites
  • 350g sugar
  • 1/2tsp salt
  • 1tsp vanilla essence
  • 455g softened butter
  • 1tsp tabasco
  • 1tsp mint essence
  • Red food colouring
  • Blue food colouring
  • To decorate:
  • Mint candies, crushed

Steps

  1. Beat the butter with the sugar until it is creamy, about 5 minutes.
  2. Add the eggs one at a time. Add vanilla extract.
  3. Add the flour and fold it in gently. Divide the mixture in two and dye one red and one blue.
  4. Pour batter into a lined cupcake pan.
  5. Bake for 25 minutes at 180ºC
  6. For the frosting, beat the whites with the sugar in a bain-marie until the sugar dissolves.
  7. Remove from heat and continue beating until stiff and glossy.
  8. Add softened butter a little at a time. Add the salt and the vanilla and beat until everything is mixed.
  9. Divide the frosting into two and dye one half blue and the other red.
  10. Crush the mint candies.
  11. Decorate the cupcakes with the frosting, the crushed candies and swords.
