DIY unicorn themed birthday parties are a hoot nowadays. Here's an easy unicorn roll cake to add to your list. Yes, it comes with the horn and the colours, what kind of bakers do you think we are?

Unicorn Roll Cake


  • 3 eggs

  • 60g sugar

  • 60g flour

  • Food colouring

  • Whipped cream

  • Sprinkles

  • Ice cream cone

  • White chocolate


  1. Preheat your oven to 180°C.

  2. Separate the eggs and beat the egg whites with a hand mixer.

  3. Mix the egg yolks and sugar in a bowl. Add flour and mix further.

  4. Fold in the meringue and fold gently.

  5. Divide the batter into 5 equal parts, add food colouring to each and mix thoroughly to make 5 colours.

  6. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Pour the batter in the baking sheet and use a bench scraper to flatten it.

  7. Bake for about 10 minutes at 180°C.

  8. Once cooled, spread whipped cream over the cake and roll starting at the short end. Chill.

  9. To serve, slice the roll and decorate with whipped cream, sprinkles, white chocolate and an ice cream cone.
